Worst product I have ever purchased February 17, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
After years of replacing cool-mist filters, I wanted to try a humidifier with a so-called permanent filter. The noise is not really any more bothersome than other cool-mist humidifiers on the market. The problem with this product is the filter system. For the first month or so, I was able to keep the filter clean per the product instructions. But then, as with all cool mist humidifiers, the filter accumulates dust from the air intake and other mineral deposits. Unfortunately, it is absoultely impossible to clean the deposits and debris out of the interior wicking of the filter. The manufacturer's instructions say (in fact warn) only to clean the unit using vinegar...well, that method only works for some of the mineral deposits for the first 4 weeks or so. Plus, even with the vinegar method, you can't get the particles washed out of the interior of the filter! So after 3 months, the perma-filter doesn't retain sufficient moisture to effectively humidify the air. You are better off buying a regular cool-mist humidifier with a filter that can be replaced every few months. It will save you time, money and frustration. I have never written a review of any product before but this product is so poor that I felt compelled to do so at this time and warn others not to make the same mistake I made. This is truly one of the worst products I have ever purchased.
Filter not available October 22, 2008 I called 800-411-0457 to order a replacement filter for this unit. They told me that the filters are out of stock and would not be available for 3-4 months...then he said AT LEAST 3-4 months. That did not sound promising. He did say I could ship the unit to KAZ and they would ship back a replacement unit...it would just cost $10 for return shipping. Not worth the hassle. As for the functionality of the unit, it worked well but it is NOT QUIET and the blue/green light is VERY bright.
No Quiet in this QuietCare Humidifier November 20, 2008 I just purchased this humidifier and will be placing it on the curb in the morning. If I could have given it a zero star rating I would have. It is, quite simply, the noisiest humidifier ever. Whoever engineered this thing must be hard of hearing. Not only is the fan incredibly loud (even on the lowest setting) but the "gentle waterfall action" that keeps the filter wet is an incessant, annoying trickling sound that can easily be heard in the next room with the door closed. Forget trying to watch TV with this thing nearby. If you were looking for a humidifier that you could run while at work or wanted something that created a LOT of background noise while you were sleeping then MAYBE this would be an acceptable choice. But based on the noise level and filter issues the other reviews have mentioned I would recommend that this model not even be considered. I've owned several Honeywell humidifiers and air purifiers and am severly disappointed and will consider not buying this brand again. IT'S THAT BAD!!
