HCM-635 QuietCare 3.0 February 28, 2007 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
Pros: I recently purchased this unit and it works great. One review states it is too noisy for a bedroom and this unit is designed for a 650 sq. ft. + application. Most bedrooms are under 150 sq. ft., so yes this may be a little noisy for a small bedroom. What I like most is the auto settings if you have a small room then this unit will turn off when the desired level of humidty is achieved. It also turns off when it is empty. It also helps clean the air by its basic design and uses of a wet filtration system to clean the air and moisten the air at the same time. You may also just use the fan mode which in turn will run the unit continuously until empty and then it shuts off..... meaning you can increase the humidity to over 100% in the desired location. This unit is a winner in my book. Neg: This unit should have had clamps installed on the side of the water tank, attaching the base to the water tank, for ease of moving the unit with the water tank handle.
Not Silent, but a Great Product Anyway January 18, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Maybe it's just that I've had allergies and the constant presence of air cleaners all my life, but to me this product emits a perfectly acceptable level of white noise. It capably humidifies my small condo from a central location, helping my hubby's eczema and my sinuses. Also helps with little annoyances, like staticky hair. I do fear my area's hard water is prematurely aging the filter, but if I go through more filters, so be it, I think it's a reasonable price to pay for the comfort the humidifier brings.
misleading product name January 15, 2007 11 out of 20 found this review helpful
The HCM 635 QUIET CARE is very noisey even on the slowest speed. It was bought to be used in a bedroom for a elderly sick person. I"m in the process of buying something else but realize now that I can not trust a purchase over the internet and need to do some local leg work to find what I need. I'm informed by friends that they are available (quiet humidifiers).
not quiet January 14, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This humidifier is definitely not quiet, even on the lowest setting. I find it to be very loud. I can't understand why they would even market it as quiet. We have it in a bathroom that adjoins two bedrooms and it is loud! Unfortunately, when I purchased it in the store, there was no display so I couldn't hear it. Afterward, we were in Bed Bath and Beyond and saw one on display that literally made no noise. It was more $ ($100) but with a 20% off coupon, well worth the upgrade. The Honeywell one seems to do its job well but we have a very stinky filter after less than 1 month and are having a hard time trying to find replacement filters in stores. Purchased the Honeywell unit at Target but they don't sell any Honeywell filters, only Holmes.
