| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Compact and unobtrusive, the Honeywell HWM255 quietly humidifies a room with an area of up to 350 square feet, providing comfort in very dry environments. Geared to provide up to 3 gallons of daily output, the tank itself holds about 1-1/2 gallons of water. This helps keep the unit size relatively compact so you can conveniently place the HWM255 virtually anywhere in your room. A built-in humidostat advises how much moisture has been emitted. There's also a built-in timer so the machine only works when you need it, great for maximizing comfort and saving energy. Auto Shut Off turns the device off when out of water. Honeywell's EZ-Care system makes filling and emptying really simple. The water tank is dishwasher safe for quick and thorough cleaning. Features and Benefits: Automatic shut-off at desired humidity or when unit is empty EZ Care System - Easy to fill, carry and clean Dishwasher safe medicine dispenser Replacement Filter - No replacement filter required Dimensions - 16.00 x 13.25 x 10.50 inches Weight - 8.0 pounds Warranty - 5-years limited warranty

No problems with this at all May 2, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've used this humidifier for about a year now and have had no problems with it at all. It can make "spurting" sounds when it is low on water, and that can wake you up in the middle of the night if you did not refill it before bed, but other than that it is great. I've found steam humidifiers to be much better and be less trouble than "cool mist" humidifiers.
Great product! March 7, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Of the three humidifiers I've bought this year, this is the best in terms of design. My favorite feature is the recessed handle that allows one to fill the tank and then set it on a flat surface to put the top back on. The other two have rounded handles so that I'm always afraid the whole thing will tilt over before I get the top on.
Works like a charm! December 2, 2005 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I had a really hard time finding a humidifier that had decent reviews and was well-priced. While the reviews here were mixed, the price was right and I wanted to switch from the cold air humidifiers (which were all SO noisy) to a warm air one. I have had this one for a couple of weeks and it is GREAT. No noise, perfect vapor, easy to use. I trust the humidity levels it reads are correct, but have not seen a problem.
still working perfectly after 5 years! January 7, 2007 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I bought my machine 5 years ago, and used it daily throughout the winter heating seasons. I loved the fact that I could set humidity, and the water in the tank is more than enough to last the whole night (I set humidity to 50). It has been a miracle worker for my dry skins. I no longer have dry patches.
It has been easy to clean (I clean it once every 3 weeks. I am very busy, so I don't clean as often as I should). And it works as well today as it did 5 years ago. I loved it so much that I immediately recommended it to my friends after 1 month's usage. They bought it 5 years ago, and their machines are working perfectly today. I never bothered to review this machine until I saw quite a few people said that their mahcine broke quickly. I want to point out that those people whose machine worked well for many years probably didn't bother to write a review for an old product because it was bought too long ago and they considered it quite normal for the machine to work (nothing to write about). The people whose machine broke quickly will almost always submit a review to express their dissatisfaction. Online reviews are almost never representative of the whole spectrum of opinions. The people who are very dissatisfied are almost always over-represented. So keep that in mind when you read reviews. I am happy with my machine, but I don't know how reliable this brand is overall or if there is any change in management or quality control in recent years.
Quiet and Effective December 28, 2005 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
This unit is extremely quiet and efficient. It lasted a full eight hours in my dry Midwest house and for the first time in a month I woke up without that dry pain in the back of my nose (aka sinuses). Our bedroom is about 12x14 and it quickly became the warmest room in the house thanks to the warm moisture. I can't speak to the maintenance or dependability yet but so far it works extremely well. Well worth $40 for a comfortable sleep.
