True to its name, the Holmes Blizzard fan can kick up quite a windstorm, though its lower settings are so effective you may never need to use it to full capacity. Designed for desktop or wall-mounted use, the fan features four speeds and optional oscillation. Its deep design and efficient blade create a focused shot of air, and the entire head can be tilted to where it is most needed. The Blizzard is easily controlled by the switches on its base and back and includes a remote control for across-the-room convenience. The remote does not control oscillation, however--that requires hands-on action. Approximately 14 inches high and 10 by 10 inches at the base, the fan comes ready to plug in and carries a three-year warranty. --Emily Bedard

I am confused by the other reviews. The fan makes some noise when on, but is not noticably loud by any means. It is small in size, but is a powerhouse. Our living room is very large - over 400 sq. ft. - and this fan moves the air around it and does a great job cooling it down quickly. I'm buying a second one for the bedroom.

I love this fan. it is perfect. I don't know what the others are talking about, but this fan is quieter than any fan I have ever heard. And it efficiency is inpeccable

This small fan has 4 speeds and I use it by my computer , it has been very hot this year, We have some big fans but this one makes a good personal fan, and best of all it has remote control,and the price was right

This fan can be turned on to one of four speeds from across the room with the remote control.
The fan can rotate from side to side or stay stationary but this must be set by hand on the back of the fan.
No problems!
